The 5th of February 2024 marks the beginning of Children’s Mental Health Week. We would like to highlight how we support families with their child’s mental health in this blog:

Children with Learning difficulties are seen to be at greater risk of having mental health problems than children without special educational needs. 

It can be difficult to identify the signs that indicate changes in the emotional and mental wellbeing of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Therefore it is often family members who are best-placed to spot such changes. 

At Hallmoor School we endeavour to work with families of our children on an individual basis, recognising any changes in behaviour early and making sure we are aware of anything that may affect their emotional well being. This could be a change in routine or a life changing event such as a family bereavement. 

The close connection with our pupils and their families allows us to address any mental health concerns early and support families in seeking the help they require.
